Time continues on in Iceland. The day unhindered by the clockwork of the sun. A lavender haze covers the green golds of the land. Lulling the country into a gentle sleep. Heavy eyed staring at the misty landscape highlighted by the forever twilight.
One of the amazing things about visiting Iceland in the summer is the long days. We stayed up so late. Walking around at midnight and being able to see was a surreal experience. The natural quietness of Iceland paired with moody mist made it an unforgettable experience.
This painting was inspired by a drive back from Reykjavik after going midnight whale watching. The way the lavender blue clouds let light through and the deeply soothing color combinations of the land left me deeply inspired and pretty sleepy.
