Heron in the Mist Painting

Inspired by the stillness of misty mornings and the quiet patience of herons waiting for their prey

When you get out of bed on a misty morning, to me it’s like the world is still sleeping. Everything is cuddled up under its misty blanket. The covers are pulled tight around the trees. And everything just seems a little sleepy. Like the morning decided it’s sleeping in today.

The inspiration sketch of this painting was moody, misty, and a little mysterious. I’ve tried to keep that true in the final painting. The background has hints of silver to try to replicate misty early morning light. I’ve kept the heron more matte to create contrast with the heron’s misty home.
