Heron at Night Painting

Do I need to lay in the sun? Unscheduled and sinking into the grass. With the branches moving over me whispering that they have no plan. What if I found a moment each day? A moment of nothing. A moment not forced, but of sinking. Sinking into a stillness, a contentment.

Sometimes painting to me feels like laying in the sun. A gentle release, a slowing down. In the midst of many things it’s often overlooked for something more glamorous, loud, or attention seeking. What if I slowed just a little and trusted the natural path of who I am and where I am meant to go.
